It's 10 O'Clock, Do You Know Who Your Macintosh Is Dating?

The year is 1983, and Steve Jobs is hosting an apple event. Trying to keep things different, Jobs plays game show host to the Apple Dating Game. The contestants: Fred Gibbons, president of Software Publishing Corporation; Mitch Kapor, president of Lotus Development, and a young Bill Gates, chairman of Microsoft.

The clip above is hilar. One of our favorite parts is Jobs' grinning face when Bill mentions that 1/2 of Microsoft's revenue would be from Mac software. Ah those were the days. Other highlights include radical neon lighting, color coordinated outfits that would now be considered hipster, and Steve Jobs' mullet in training.

After the jump a clip of Steve Jobs ripping Microsoft a new one just a few years later...

Blasphemy!

Best video post ever. Bill Gates before that look was ironically hip, and looking not a day over 18.

Lotus 1 2 3 FTW!

as fascinating as it is to look back at the rise (and fall and rise again) of these two companies, i find it funny that most tech fans now never really cared about this industry in the 80s.

I have to agree is mscot. When this whole Macintosh/Mircosoft thing was happening in the 80s I was between the ages of 5 and 12. The only thing I cared about then was my cabbage patch kids.

"hilar" is the worst shortening of a word I've seen since "ridic" FOR SHAME I SAY, FOR SHAME! :)

The Mac came out in January of 1984 so I'm a bit confused about the dates mentioned in this post?? I bought my first Mac that year. Guess that dates me, huh?
