We all use keyboards everyday. It's true that not all of us can type without looking at the keys, but more and more users get comfortable enough with typing. Most programmers and writers are able to type at least partially without looking at the keys. Personally, when I was a computer programmer working long hours in front of a screen, I decided to learn how to touch type and I have never looked back. Touch typing is blindingly fast, so much faster than writing. Well, for all you touch typists out there, this might be a keyboard for you, if you are into Apple products like us!
All White: The Minimalist Apple-Like Keyboard
Apple's new trend in keyboards includes using two colors, such as black/silver and white/silver on their products. We guess that some people like them and others don't. Essell isn't particularly fond of this new design. He thinks that one color suited the designs a lot better. One thing's for sure, his complete white Apple-like keyboard is sure to attract attention.
Since like most nerds (his word not ours), he's able to touch type, he decided to convert his keyboard to an all-white color, hiding all of the key information. He says that he used a cheap can of spray-paint, but we aren't sure. Anyone considering converting an existing keyboard like this would have problems, unless each of the keys were painted individually. Plus the feel of keyboard wouldn't be as great. This makes the keyboard completely white and extremely hard to use by anyone not used to touch typing. But for those of us having this nerdy ability, this white keyboard is fine and nicely designed. We think that it sure looks good and people who touch type will enjoy it. The other thing that matters to us is how it feels. A great keyboard has to feel right. That remains to be seen about this keyboard. [via NotCot]

Added bonus: people who aren't comfortable touch-typing (read: people who shouldn't be using your computer anyway) won't be able to do as much on your computer and will probably give up and go away. WIN.

Since when is touch typing is a "nerdy ability"? I'm 44 years old, which may seem ancient to some, but two types of people learned to touch type (on actual typewriters) when I was in high school - those who planned to work as secretaries, clerks or office support work and those who planned to go to college and knew they'd need to type academic papers.
Touch typing has nothing to do with being a nerd. It has to do with being a professional and wanting to do work more efficiently.

this gives me flashbacks to memorizing piano music as a child: if the sheet music was on the stand, I could play the song without looking at it, but as soon as it was removed, I panicked and lost my place.
