apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Coffee and Tea Maker by Naoto Fukasawa

There are three names in industrial design whom I hold dear to my heart: Jonathan Ive of Apple, his precursor Dieter Rams of Braun, and Naoto Fukasawa of plus minus zero. Despite CDs going the way of the dodo, I've held onto my beloved Fukasawa designed wall mount CD player for Muji, as I love Fukasawa designs as much for their visual presence as their utility. And now he's added a compact beverage brewer into the mix&hellip

The Coffee + Tea Maker brews up to six cups of tea or coffee, just the right amount for a couple of coffee drinkers without going overboard (I recently learned that parents used to drink 3 full pots of Yuban every morning when I was a kid!). The compact size is ideal for corners and small apartment spaces, and your beverage of choice is filtered before brewing with a double activated charcoal filter. A one hour automatic off function keeps you from boiling the leftovers into sludge.

This is the UK version of the design that's been sold in Japan since 2007. It's been on my list of things to own since I saw it.
The ironic thing is the UK version won't work in the US without a converter while the original Japanese version will probably work just fine.
Available at eBay.
