We recently stopped in our tracks while shopping when we ran into these Art Deco design inspired Nespresso CitiZ Espresso Machine. The svelte shaped capsule-based espresso machines are being advertised prominently by Sur La Table these days, but seems to hardly need it considering we noticed plenty of curious shoppings give the architectural machines a careful and curious lookover...
Features of the Nespresso CitiZ Espresso Machine include:
- ultra-slim profile perfect for compact spaces.
- 19-bar high-pressure pump for quick, consistent extraction.
- No-mess Nespresso capsule system for perfect flavor every time.
- Cup stand folds to accommodate various mugs and glasses.
- A wide range of coffee varieties to choose from.
- Chrome accents.
- Large and easy-to-hold removable 34-ounce water reservoir.
- Easy capsule insertion and ejection.
- Simple push-button interface, programmable for custom espresso and lungo.
- Automatic power-save mode reduces energy consumption.
Single serving coffee and espresso capsule machines are very convenient, perfect for office environments, though the coffee snob in us think the taste is lacking overall and we're not fond of the material waste of using plastic cups each time. But we can't argue the Nespresso CitiZ is certainly one of the best looking coffee machines, single serving or otherwise, out there. Available for $279 in 3 colour or $349 for the addition of a milk frother for full effect.
"...though the coffee snob in us think the taste is lacking overall and we're not fond of the material waste of using plastic cups each time."
Exactly.
I have no use for design aesthetics over end taste when it comes to coffee, tea, alcohol, or food.

JaxByDefault: one would hope the manufacturers would begin offering reusable single serving cups so owners could use their own grinds of choice, but there's obviously an economic incentive for them to sell throw away servings.

"taste is lacking" - Yes - snobbery is right. The coffee produced is top notch.
Nespresso offer a huge variety of capsules to suit any coffee lovers taste. Each one with it's own distinct taste.
The great thing about these machine - apart from the fact that they are beautiful, compact, neat, easy to clean and look great on any kitchen worktop - the coffee is produced using a powerful 19 bar pressure pump. Most espresso machine on the market max out at 16 bar. The 19 bars really gets the most from the coffee and gives an ultra smooth creamy head on every cup.
You will not be disappointed.

dmac1144: have to agree with the design and convenience; my "taste is lacking" comment was primarily aimed at other single serving capsule experiences I've had. They were notably in the Starbucks range of taste, but this machine is obviously much more high end in finish, construction.
If they offered this with reusable capsules, I'd certainly be interested in one myself.

Nespresso makes delicious coffee, better than the starbucks down the street from me, better than any Krups home maker, and as good as the Starbucks in Pike's Market where they still hand pull shots. This machine makes the best espresso with the thickest crema you can get in your neigborhood (the shot in the picture is not rigged that's really what comes out), and it does it at the push of a button.
No coffee is "green." Jamaica is the closest it grows to the Continental US. All of it comes is some form of disposible packaging. The greenest would be buying nothing but Jamaican Blue Mountain, boiling it on a gas stove to make in a coffee press, but who has the time or money for that.
