Small Space Cooking: LG Combo Microwave Oven & Toaster

2008_04_24-Toater.jpgAs we look to pare down and keep our kitchen appliances to a minimum, the first thing to go for many people is a toaster. It is the definitive single-use appliance, and it can take up far too much precious counter space. But we don't want to give up toast, and it seems a waste to turn on the broiler for just a slice of toast to go with a morning egg. Enter the combo microwave oven and toaster from LG, a compact dual use appliance...

big_ltm9000ss_dooropen.jpgThis has apparently been available for two years, but we've never seen it. We like the idea of combining these two appliances for one slim model that doesn't take up too much space. The Combination Toaster and Microwave Ovens, LTM9000ST and LTM9000W and LTM9000B, are available at the manufacturer's suggested retail price of $149, $119 and $119. What do you think? Do you have one of these?

  • 900 watts power for the Microwave; 800 watts power for the Toaster
  • .9 cubic feet cavity
  • Horizontal key pad
  • 9 browning levels
  • Hi-tech stainless steel finish
  • High gloss white and black

• Find retailers of the Combination Microwave Oven and Toaster at LG

Duel use anything electronic turns into a hassle when one of the two (or more) uses quits working. If my toaster dies, I can buy an inexpensive new one while keeping the same old microwave. Something like this sticks me with either replacing the whole thing which is wasteful of both money and the item, or getting a toaster and defeating the whole purpose.
Reminds me of the combo TV/VCR sets where the VCR would crap out within a year. Or obviously become nearly obsolete nowadays.
