Type Tray Looks Cool, Keeps Cool

042709_tf_typetray_01.jpgThe mundane and practical can also be beautiful. Case in point; this laptop resting spot that only does a great job of keeping your lap cool from the heat of those sometimes scorching hot machines, but also doing a damn good job of just looking slim and sexy on it's own. Oh, and typographers will love the design laser cut into it.

042709_tf_typetray_03.jpgThe Type Tray is a collaboration between Veer and Scribble Product Design.

Even though it looks like wood, the Type Tray is actually 3/4" of 100% industrial wool felt that lets heat escape somewhere between the computer and your legs, keeping you too cool for school. It's also made from recycled (and recyclable) materials through an eco-friendly manufacturing process. So, you're cool and green. Like Kermit. Or like lime popsicles.

The coolest part is the laser-cut design that decorates the top and depicts the keyboard QWERTY alphabet and many familiar keys (File, Shift, CTRL) in two very badass typefaces (Veer is proud to tell you they're P22 Kilkenny and Cavetto).

It's expensive ($100) and only ships to North America, but if you're so inclined to purchase, check out the product page here.

I use and old school ouija board that I got from a garage sale for $1.00. Not as heat disapating as this one, but still works none the less. My parents had the ouija board for me on road trips as a child, so I could color in the car. No we didn't used them for the ouija purpose. Just great size lap boards.
