Sparkfun is known for modding retro gadgets with new school tech -- their rotary phone that accepts cell phone SIM cards was just one of those ideas. Now the company has made a coffee table that lets you challenge the people lounging around you to a game of Pong.
The tabletop is built with 4,096 LEDs which play out a game of Pong controlled by four attached Atari controllers. After the jump more shots and an explanation on how the company made this one-of-a-kind piece...
"The table itself was bought secondhand and refinished. Then it was retrofitted with proper mounting for the big LED matrix. The individual LED matrices were mounted on a custom plastic frame. All this work was done by resident mechanical engineer and lady-killer Casey Haskell. The matrices are connected 8 to a row, all 8 rows controlled via a custom router board connected to an Olimex LPC2106 development board. The entire rig is powered by a hacked 500 watt CPU power supply."

What you see on the floor beneath the table here is actually a mirror in order to inspect wiring without having to crank your neck.
