apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Another OMG Really? Recycled Home Appliance

121608_tf_washdrumlamp1.jpgThis bad-ass, uber-modern, glass-topped, inner-lit side table (we couldn't narrow down exactly which two-parter hyphenated description to use for it) was once a part of a common—well, not in NYC, we've heard—household appliance. The answer, if you can't spot it straight away, is of course after the jump...

121608_tf_washdrumlamp2.jpgThis glam table was once an old washing machine agitator drum. It is now a lamp that will run you about $500 if you head over to Reestore and buy it.

It's apparently their most popular product because it produces "a beautiful ambient glow" and casts "beams of
light from her polished stainless steel body." And it is, of course, "finished with a frosted glass surface for mug resting heaven."

We don't know about all that, we just think it's awesome that such a cool looking table used to be a washing machine drum that was stuffed with people's dirty laundry.
