Card Lamp Folds Flat on Desk to Keep Desk Clean

042809_rg_toshiba_card_lamp_01.jpgIf you are like me, your desk must be a mess. Mine is overflowing with paper and books, computers and envelopes all over the place. More space on your desk leaves room for even more papers. The Card lamp is a new LED lamp that totally folds flat, making space for more clutter. Or if you are really well organized, it leaves you more space to work.

042809_rg_toshiba_card_lamp_02.jpgThis lamp is a result of a collaboration between architect Ryo Matsui, Takram Design and Toshiba. The lamp uses a form that is minimal and elegant, and is meant to capture the Japanese idea of simplicity. This lamp must be pretty cool to see when it unfolds by itself. Or maybe it doesn't? What's really cool is that it completely folds flat on your desk when not in use, and it can be shelved or stored quite easily. You get to choose between ambient or task oriented lighting.

Since it just disappears when not in use, it leaves space for other things like papers and the like. When I work, I like to have really bright lights shinning on my work area, especially when things get dark. The brighter, the better. This is why multi-LED lamps really work well in offices. Before, halogen lamps were the brightest. Now, LED lamps can be as bright as sunlight. [via Designboom, images by Designboom]

would be awesome if it were not just a concept and was sold at a reasonable price.

Cheers,
