Die Electric Can Dull

2007_08_01-dieelec-candle.jpg

An emergency backup plan for power failures? Die Electric has come up with the Candull. Whereas most of their designs involve plugging an object into an electrical outlet, this one removes the need for electricity. Don't think this would be a safe option if you tried this with appliances that were actually plugged into the wall though.

Available here for $65

Don't stores still carry 50-cent taper candles and under-$1 candle holders?

It takes a lot of candles to replace the light of one electric bulb, so screwing a candle into a light fixture won't accomplish much other than dripping wax into your lamps. If you want to play cards or checkers during a power outage, figure half a dozen candles clustered together; reading requires even more.
