Green Idea: Water Pressure Powered Shower Light

022009 sylvania ecolight.jpgI am fortunate to have a lot of natural light in my bathroom which definitely helps in the morning stumble from the bed to the shower routine. In previous places I have lived however, I haven't been as lucky. No windows and a shower stall with no light whatsoever. Taking a shower in there was not a nice experience. If you are in a similar situation and not in any position to start punching holes in the ceiling to install overhead lighting, there is a simple and relatively cheap alternative.

While we have seen shower heads that indicate temperature through color, this shower head add on from Sylvania does the same but also gives you some task lighting. Say good bye to depressingly dark shower stalls....and with no batteries needed.

Available for $39 here.

How is this a "Green Idea"?

electricity > water company's pump > water through miles of pipe > generator in your shower light

That's way less efficient than just using your own electricity to start with.
