The best of both worlds? Not really. While these hybrid fluorescent bulbs consist of a CFL wrapped around a regular incandescent bulb, they are not meant to address the oh so familiar issue of incandescent lights being more desirable than fluorescent bulbs. What they do give you however is speed.
Instant On CFL's
Speed to full brightness. Since CFL's take a little bit of time to reach full brightness, integrating an incandescent light into the middle gives you the instant on feel when you flick the switch. Once the CFL has warmed up completely, the incandescent bulb shuts itself off. Actually, maybe this is the best of both worlds....if only it was dimmable.

I finally made the complete switch yesterday. You know what? It's a little brighter, a little bluer, and I have to wait about 15 seconds for full light, but I really don't care. It's good for the environment, and I can deal.
