Next Downlight

2007_10_30 next downlight.jpg

A floor lamp, literally. An interesting reversal of what we have come to expect from a floor lamp, the Next downlight wraps the base in light rather than the top.

We like the way the light spreads over the floor and provides a nice low ambient light. The switch is also located at the top of the pole making for easy access and providing a nice area to grab should you need to move the lamp around.

But why not just put the disc on the floor and do away with the metal pole in the middle all together? That thing could put an eye out...

luv, luv pole and all...
maybe on top of the pole they could add a round "base" that can be used to rest a drink or two? that way no one pokes anything out....

Q: since when is a lamp a TECH post? I understand if it was a USB/ Firewire dock LED light powered by a battery charged by solar power. But no... it's a lamp. Wrong category.
