This modern lighting fixture might look like an umbrella, but it looks more like a flying saucer or a strange jellyfish. The fixture was created by French furniture designers Beau & Bien. The Smoon Ombrella lamp gets its sculptural shape from custom cut Plexiglas. It towers at 81″ tall. The canopy itself measures a substantial 39.4″ x 59″.
The Smoon Ombrella uses LED lighting to cast it's glow. The LEDs have low power comsumption and run on a rechargeable battery back, that lets you place the lamp anywhere without worrying about pesky wires.
It can also be used outdoors. A single 10 hour charge will give the lamp 6 days of light days.
The Smoon Ombrella is available in red, green, clear and other colors. The clear color is nifty, since it lets the surrounding colors shine through.
The Smoon Ombrella lamp is available from Coliseum online shop for a whopping $2200.

That is wicked cool! I so want one of these for my bedroom (except I could never spend that much $$$$ on a lamp. It would have to drive me to work too). I'm working on a water colors / circle theme for it. Plus, I like the dark grey / light grey sofa & cushions in the top photo.
