Solar Paper Lantern Makes Green Look Good

010909_tf_solarlantern.jpgCovering something in solar panels, whether it's a house or some sunglasses, doesn't particularly make it look very attractive. I mean, we're talking about silicon and glass here, not leather and lace. But this lamp takes it to a whole 'nother level with a graphic take on solar panel placement that makes us think of one thing...

The Solar Paper Lantern, designed by Damien O'Sullivan, is made from 36 miniature solar panels with each connected up to an electroluminescent diode. The circular layout and the angle of the panels make sure that they will capture the most sunlight possible. The resulting light can remain on indefinitely, as long as the panels are near a spot of strong sun exposure.

We think it kind of looks like an artichoke, but a really shiny, cool, glowing artichoke. It's pretty much like the awesome-est artichoke in the produce section.

This a particularly superb lattice work lantern. It looks like a purple diamond finely cut and put together. I am used to only Moroccan lanterns. Excuse my ignorance, but I think they are also superb.
