We have seen motion activated LED's before but what about sound activated LED's?
Is there an advantage? It would seem that these sound activated ones are better suited to situations where you want the light to come on before you get there, just like in the staircase example. For only $10 each this is definitely a cheap way to get some lighting in strategic places. If only they didn't stick out so far from the surface they were mounted on we would be much more impressed. Although we do have a floating bathroom vanity, where if these were placed underneath, would make for a nice automatic night light for those middle of the night bathroom trips.

But how much noise do you have to make for them to come on? Would they come on if there was noise coming from the other room, say the TV, or talking? That would unnecessarily wear the batteries out.
