THX 1138 LED Lamps

121808thx1138_1108_01.jpgNamed after George Lucas' early cinematic work (how could he have gone from this to Jar Jar Binks?), the 'THX 1138’ lamp by Italian manufacturer spHaus is every bit as minimal-stark as the sci-fi classic it's named after. An array of low power LED provide mood enhancing light, if not overhead cover just in case any indoor sprinklers go off...

THX 1138 is a freestanding lamp made of aluminium and painted steel. A large disc resting on a thin stem holds the light source: the light, generated by a combination of energy-saving LEDs, is diffused toward the ceiling for a sober, even effect. THX 1138 is available in two versions: one, a high impact design with one meter diameter disc, is an ambient installation. The other, of smaller, more commercially viable size, is a lot like a traditional stem lamp. Available in black or white.

A lamp called THX-1138? spHaus is gonna be thinking Star Wars - as in Stormtroopers - when George Lucas and his army of Imperial Lawyers get wind of their copyright infringement.
