A Home on Wheels: The Toyota Roadtrip Mobile

This is sort of like a real life Transformer, except instead of turning into a gigantic laser wielding robot of destructive power, this Toyota van's cube cabin mechanically converts into a miniature, but fully decked out house on wheels at the touch of a button! Handmade over two years, this mobile home is a technological wonder in the spirit of the Japanese proficiency for optimizing space to the fullest...

The Japanese Nostalgic Car blog gives us details about the Toyota Toyoace which was transformed over two years, four wheel accomodations that change literally into a house on wheels, complete with miniaturized kitchen, bathroom, living space and even a deck. All it takes is the push of a button to expand the truck out into it's transformed mode, with a beautiful second story Japanese style tatami sleeping space up top. Amazing.

I see no reason why laser guns could not be retrofitted onto this.

The interior of this actually looks a lot like real apartments in Tokyo. Note the ghastly gas heater (with a big blue button) with the ugly hose leading into the sink. This is what Japanese places are really like, not all the idealized minimalist stuff you often see showcased.

Looks like one strong wind will blow the thing right over... or maybe Godzilla.
