ColorCapture Ben iPhone App Matches Paint Color In Photos

It's not quite a snap and match solution (the iPhone's digital camera is still quite rudimentary and color matching is a guesstimate at best), but we think Benjamin Moore's ColorCapture Ben iPhone and iPod Touch application is a bit of dream come true. Load a photo you've taken to loaded onto your Apple device and users are given a selection of colors that best match the section tapped on screen, alongside additional colors in the same family of hues...

Like what you see? You can then save your color match selections into a favourites folder. And to make paint selection easier, the app works with the iPhone's built-in GPS abilities to take you from swatch recommendations to actual paint purchase by directing you to the nearest Benjamin Moore paint retailer (of course). Now if they could only make something like this with insects and other animals, our nerdy hearts would be ecstatic.

The ColorCapture Ben iPhone App will be available at the Apple App Store on June 1st.
