Designed UPC Barcodes Are More Fun at the Checkout

111309_tf_barcodeonbot.jpgA good product becomes a great product when the industrial designers are done making it functional and the really creative types get a chance to do it up with pure, unfiltered aesthetic design.

111309_tf_barcodes.jpgWe love what one Japanese graphic arts firm is doing to barcodes. D-Barcode creates and sells unique barcode designs that are still able to be scanned with any standard optical scanner—including the one at the grocery store down the corner.

It's a great way to utilize previously "wasted" space to keep sending your brand's message out there, and it's fun!

We'd love to see this spread out and take over the world—and it turns out, we could. D-Barcode has begun selling their designs to anyone who wants to license them! Let us know if you see any design-ified barcodes on your holiday shopping trips!

yes, id_mike, I'd say they should research ALOT more. I found this insulting.
