Displaying Book, Movie & Music Collections

Janel over at Apartment Therapy Chicago takes a look at how to display that collection of media in the home with a great roundup of well presented collections. We've rid ourselves of most media except a collection of DVDs we've yet to part with, but for those of you out there with CD, vinyl and DVD's (and books), this is an inspiring post to make what you've got look good in the home...

This month on Apartment Therapy we are looking at collections and even if you don't consider yourself a collector (no vinyl toys or blue & white porcelain at your house!) we bet you have a fairly sizable collection of books, music and movies. As more and more of these items move to the digital realm, they will have less of a visual impact on our homes...but for now, they are a big consideration.

Most lovers of these items don't hide away their collections - they often choose to celebrate them and show them off on open shelves - today, we did a search for photos from some of our favorite magazines to create a bit of an inspiration gallery of media collections done right. Enjoy!

Ah, those are great! One of the things I find frustrating about design ideas and photo spreads is that there's very few examples for people with large book/record/cd/dvd collections. If you're the type of person who has a big media collection, you want to be able to SEE it and touch it whenever you want, and not hide it away.
