Although the term "mancave" may be a modern invention, the idea of a masculine-decorated, home electronic filled room isn't a new one. In fact, we think its heydays were several decades ago, when men could use the promise of "the highest fidelity" in their shag-filled entertainment room as a viable come-on. Doesn't quite have the same ring to it now: "Hey, wanna shuffle my iPod?".
Check out this collection of retro rooms from a collection put together by The Selvidge Yard, who defines the mancave as "a dark, personal, intimate womb", perhaps supporting the opinion that mancaves are possibly the realm of boys who never became men. Our favourite photo of the bunch is the projected movie in bed scene. Rawr~!
those chairs in the first picture look like those stupid sex chairs AT posted not too long ago! gads.
these are so hilarious and creepy/pervy i just don't know what to say. well, except that last one...that one is rad! ;)

While most of them do look a little too Austin Powers for my taste, an updated version of that bed/sofa/lounger in the 2nd photo would be nice. It just looks really comfortable.

I really hate how the Austin Power films are connected to this era of decor/design, since in the right context many still look great in a modern setting.

#3 and #4 look like great places to reenact the best scenes from Barbarella.
