Look! Combining Technology with the Old

031109_an_Jokkmokk1.jpgFor some time, Jocke Jokkmokk didn't know what to do with his corner chimney that seemed to eat up a quarter of his living room space, distracting from his movie theater experience he was looking to create. Instead of demolishing it, he decided to embrace the vintage chimney, added some paint to his media wall (kinda like how some people wallpapered it up in yesterday's posting), and touched it up to become a conversation piece rather than an "eyesore." The results clearly speak for themselves.

031109_an_Jokkmokk3.jpgUsing the chimney as a secondary focal point (the first, obviously being the TV), Jocke creates an added sculptural detail that makes the room feel even more comfortable than if he were to try and cover it up. Luckily, he avoided his initial intentions of trashing the chimney altogether and decided to revamp it up.

031109_an_Jokkmokk4.jpgA shot of his current living room set-up for all who's interested. The equipment he's got his paws on are as follows: Panasonic PT-AE3000 projector, Grand View Velvet 2,35:1 curved screen, and KEF iQ7 speakers (which are ever so droolworthy).

Is it just me or does the first shot have a TV in the background instead of a screen? That's a sweet setup btw.

Follow up design question...what is the table in the first picture? I love the Eames surfboard table, but the one in this picture is even better for my needs. Anyone?

@Mastorpatt: Yes, it does have a tv. Evolution of design was my first thought. But the last picture reveals a long silver edge along the bottom of the screen that indicates the install may have been evolving during the photoshoot.

where are all the wires:)? I love these fancy shoots - everything is so clean and nice but realistically how do you connect the speakers for one? Also, the fireplace rocks! How can I find out more about it?

@Mastorpatt and RJHD3

My guess is they use the LCD for general television watching and a projector for movies and critical viewing. It's pretty common for people with front projection setups because you have to have dim environments for a good picture and it gets kind of depressing sitting in the dark all the time. Plus, standard definition television probably looks pretty crappy when you put it on a screen that large.
