Look! Concealing Speaker Wires With Wood

030209_an_hide_speaker_wires_wood.jpgWe're sure anyone who's set up their own surround speaker system will agree that rear speaker wires are the main culprit of ugliness in a would-be immaculate home theater system. Fear not! Here's a quick and easy way to hide those rear speaker wires that you may not have thought of - wooden strips!

030209_an_hide_speaker_wires_wood2.jpgYou can grab a bunch of these little guys at your local art store, many of which already have a tiny indentation that you can shove your wires in. If they just have the standard wood strips with no indentation, find a lumber yard and ask them nicely if they can carve a thin indent in for you.

Pretty cool. I've always hated the problem of hiding the wires. I used to use matching colored electrical tape along the corners of my wall but even that looked bad once you got up close. This would go well with my Hannslounge HDTV.

The canvas-looking walls are nice as well.

That setup is just ridiculous! It is absolutely terrible for acoustics (you should never mount your speakers near walls) and in my opinion it doesn't even look that good. If you have problems with the looks of your speakers, consider changing them.
