Look! Duncan's Wall-Mounted Workspace

050109_an_wallmount.jpgWhen Duncan Mowatt isn't bumpin' some rockin' jams on his KRK Rokit 6" Studio monitors hooked to a power amp under the desk, he's either gaming or Wacom'ing it up on his custom desk of his dreams, almost completely made of materials he found just sitting around the house.

050109_an_wallmount2.jpgHis wall-mounted Dell 19" Studio Display is wall-mounted to the sturdy backboard, which is additionally reinforced with a rope wrapped around the mounting bracket.

Around the Wacom tablet bottom section, rope lights are wired up to X10 Modules and are completely remote controlled from his desktop. He also has them rigged to a motion sensor, so whenever he enters the room, the under lights turn on.

050109_an_wallmount3.jpgUnfortunately, a close look around his room reveals some unsightly wires soaking in dust bunnies on the bottom of his desk. C'mon Duncan, don't forget about the wire management! Ah, we kid, of course. It's a great DIY project demonstrating what can be done with some creativity, a list of requirements, and a skillful hand with a jig saw.

It's a well engineered/designed piece. And I understand the wood was found around the house, but I would like to have seen a higher quality wood used, and some varnish.
