Look! Gaming as Social Excursion

2007-04-23chatterbox.jpgIt looks like it could be anyone's living room where yours truly was enjoying a good 'ol-fashioned game of Tetris. It looked like a rec room of comfy but less-than-stylish couches and chairs, and a couple TVs, each outfitted with an original Ninentendo and an Atari. But it wasn't a rec room, but rather The Chatterbox Pub, a neighborhood pub dedicated to good food, board games, and the aforementioned Nintendo and Atari.

We want to know: How social is your game playing? What room do you play in? How much does your gaming system play into your design decisions in the room where you play?

Which came first, the design for the room or the gaming system around which you designed the layout of the room?

I pretty much play only social games from a console.

The playstation is in the main living room on DWR's Muro wall, which only supports 4 boxes, so only the PS2 made the cut.

Dual DDR mats rated higher than a coffee table until recently when guitar hero became the game du jour at my house.

Now I have a coffee table, a real chair, and I can put breakable items back on the mantel without fear.

That place looks like great fun though, nice to get out of the house and play.
