Look!: "News Desk" Plays B&W Against Silver

060509_tf_newsdesk1.jpgWe'd all love one of a kind pieces in our homes that speak perfectly to our personalities and decorating tastes. But unless your last name is Gates, you're probably buying some stuff at big box stores like Ikea and West Elm. But you can take a little inspiration from this Apple faithful's desk setup on how to customize those key pieces...

060509_tf_newsdesk2.jpgThe thing that aesthetites love about Apple's machines is their clean lines and stylish modern aluminum finish. That feature plays prominently on this one of a kind desk thanks to a unique finish of it's own.

Newpaper clippings—well, newspaper tearings—cover the surface of this desk. The matte, mostly black and white and organic look of the pages makes the straight edged shiny MacBook and iMac stand out—in a really great way.

Plus, this is all a way-too-easy DIY project. Just grab your desk, some old newspapers and decoupage glue. You could even think about choosing your headlines bases on a subject or mood. It's a great inspriation for how to bring warmth, creativity and uniqueness to the office, a commonly bland area in most homes, while still making sure those great looking gadgets you paid good money for still are the stars of the show.
