That's exactly what we did in our loft. Its not that huge (the loft or the divider) but we "back to backed" two of the steel book cases from Crate and Barrell to a Marshall Fields' Warehouse entertainment center as the room divider.

Wish I had a photo I could share . . . perhaps this evening!
