Our households are full of iPods and other high-tech music devices. But when it comes to radio in the kitchen, we like the simplicity of a vintage transistor radio.
We like the feel of the buttons, the effort it takes to get the station just right, and the uncertainty of not knowing what will be coming across the airwaves next. This little guy in the kitchen makes dishwashing seem to go by just a bit faster.
When it comes to our technology, we've gotten a bit burned out with all the new gadgets and add ons. Instead of shilling out money for the latest plastic iPod adapter, consider this... A quick trip to your local thrift store can uncover an inexpensive and unique music-producing device that suits your needs.

If only there were anything on the radio worth tuning into...

I love the cool old 60s and 70s table top transistor radios, nice in the kitchen and bathroom, I have NPR tuned in on mine great content there.

I use my early 70s Sony portable transistor radio to listen to baseball games in the summer. I love it, better reception than my crappy Sony mini stereo systems of the early 90s and can use either a power cord or 4 AA batteries which will be handy in case of an earthquake!
