So far, nothing mind blowing at Apple's 'Let's Rock' event in San Francisco. These new iPod Nanos available in an assortment of colours is a nice update for 149 for 8GB, $199 for 16GB. iTunes 8 with HD rentals means Heroes, The Office and Battlestar are finally a download option for us Apple TV owners with HD sets.
Okay, the new Touch with integrated Nike+ is a sweet addition for those of us with fitness aspirations. The iPod touch version of 'Spore Origins' will likely be a huge download success...
Still waiting for Stevie's H-bomb surprise...Nope.

Is it me, or do those Nano's in the poster look as though they are longer than the current generation? I don't think I'd want one if they were longer/larger than the existing units. I'm hoping that's just a bad representation.

yep it's back to the old, long shape for the nano - but a bit thinner and curvier. Really pretty underwhelming event it seemed to me. I was hoping for some new hardware addition/tweak on the ipod touch - bluetooth, camera, gps, something... But decent price drops on the touches though.

As y'all know, I drank the KoolAid long ago, but this update is just 'meh.'

Yeah, I just got the Apple email about the new nano. The whole reason I liked the little square Nano was the shape. I was tempted to pick one up but the capacity is too small, and wanted to wait until a better model was released. Having seen this I've decided against the purchase entirely, at least until Apple comes to its senses and goes back to the smaller square shape.
