Remember the scene in Pixar's Toy Story with those broken, weird Dr. Moreau selection of outcast toys? Play Coalition's Phototrope plant maintenance robot is sort of like those weird-fascinating creations. The Phototrope is a flora custodial concept without any real details, but is simply described as a "solar seeking botanical augmentation" device. Watch it moving below the jump...

It's unclear whether this is purely conceptual or a working model, but we like how they've used natural materials on the exterior to hide away most of the wiring and battery pack. A cool addition would be if the whole unit would recharge itself at a solar powered docking station. But we assume the fate of this product is purely conceptual, as children, the elderly and small animals, would find this robot a bit frightening (yes, us too).

That's incredible! Although, that cat should be scared for two reasons, the least of which is the uncanny valley-like movement: the plant that machine is carrying is a Sago palm, which is extremely toxic should any part of it be accidentally ingested.

I love this! I want one that moves away from the CAT. Then the fun would begin!
