apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Stefan Boublil's Surround Sound and Sight Redesign

We just highlighted the meeting offices of The Apartment Creative Agency yesterday, and now we're follow up with this exemplary apartment designed by Stefan Boublil, creative director of the New York design team, filled with examples of how to stylishly incorporate home tech into a design scheme...

One question we've got is why the flat panel is not mounted center in the shelving system? And how about that amazing blue painted children's loft and built-in desk setup? Peruse through the rest of the apartment design over at Contemporist.

Every single room is constructed so that the postcard view of central park is the star. With a built-in wraparound sofa, a secret door in the solid walnut library and distributed surround sound all over the home, this project is an ode to the 80s during which the building was erected.

Suited for a family of 4 with 2 children, the communal living spaces stands in between the master suite and the kids’ rooms, hidden behind the aforementioned trap door in the library, thereby providing a buffer of sight and sound.

thank you for covering this apt, we're are quite proud of it! to answer your question, the panel is off-center because there is an hidden bracket that permits it to swing 90 degrees so that people can sit on the built-in sofa and watch tv. in oder to be able to do that, we needed that space on the side. what you see there is the "rest" position.

What is that plastic doll thing in pic #6? For some reason, I really, really need it.
