Wilkerson Furniture's Retro Flat Panel Console

060608DODTV.jpgOf all the things we got to see this afternoon at Dwell on Design (happening all this weekend at the LA Convention Center; sign up for free passes to the exhibition), our favourite by far was the m21 Flat TV Console....

Designer Joe Wilkerson told us the design was being unveiled at the show to test the waters of public interest. From all the people doing double takes or stopping dead in their tracks, we'd say Wilkerson Furniture might have a retro-tastic hit here if they can price this within the realm of reason (no prices set of yet).

The console made from sustainable walnut hardwood houses a 42" plasma screen; they're currently debating whether they will offer the screen and console together as a package., The center section of the m21 console is made from Fender amp screen material and was designed to house a center speaker. Wilkerson mentioned plans for an even wider, lower version with opening doors for component storage, also promising more information/photos in the coming days.

-it made me gasp- so lovely.
wider and with doors is what separates it from other storage options currently so I'm not sure how well I'll receive that, but this-- this is gorgeous.

showed to my mum- she likes the look of old consoles and she looked all excited. I hope they have the option of putting your own tv in there so it could be a little more cost effective. and the extra storage is a good idea! keep us posted AT!

I work from home watching dvd’s for research projects and this would be a lovely piece of retro home office furniture, I haven’t seen anything like this in years. Would be great for manufactures to realize there is a really big market for this kind of retro furniture. Whenever I see pictures of a 70’s living room I always wish I had been born back then. The styles and colors are so warming. Modern furniture is quite dull and empty.
