Wrapper Rage

2008_02_11 wrapper rage.jpg Have you experienced wrapper rage? We have, which is why we ended up blogging about can openers as a simple and quick solution to dealing with seemingly bulletproof packaging. While this approach definitely works, wouldn't it be nice to be able to open up your new gadget without having to completely destroy the packaging or risk bleeding?

Also, it turns out that most municipalities don't actually pick up this type of packaging for recycling curbside. Is there really no way to ship product in a recyclable package that does not require tools to open? A survey conducted by Southern Methodist University found that nearly 80 per cent of the respondents "expressed anger, frustration or outright rage" with plastic packaging materials. Something has to be done about this.

Another vote for the OpenX. I keep one in the kitchen, one at my desk, one in the bathroom and one in the toolbox. I keep several in my office as well. I just noticed the price seems to have gone up. They were $6 each when I bought them several years ago - worth every penny.

We use single edge razor blades at work to open the evil plastic. It works pretty well. Normal people who don't walk around with razor blades could use a box cutter for the same purpose.

I haven't tried the can opener yet since I haven't bought anything encased in the plastic of doom in a while.
