Your Favortie Parts of NYC Life, Through Legos

022009_tf_nyc_manhattan.jpgWe love this! It combines two of our favorite things on Unplggd and the AT family: Geeky tech and pride in your city. Ok, so Legos aren't really tech. But it just seems like the iconic colorful plastic bricks are the icing on top of any day at Unplggd. (See Anatomy of a Lego Man and Lego Inspired Living for examples). Check out these Lego-modeled symbols of some of the great—and not so great—parts of New York...022009_tf_nyc_composite.jpg

Apparently Christoph Niemann, an illustrator who's work has appeared on the covers of The New Yorker and The New York Times Magazine, is spending some extended time in Berlin with his family, including three boys with a healthy appetite for Legos.

During the cold and dark Berlin winter days, I spend a lot of time with my boys in their room. And as I look at the toys scattered on the floor, my mind inevitably wanders back to New York.

So he got bored playing with his kids, and The New York Times online published the result!

Well we're glad he got inspired, because these figurines are funny, honest and beautiful. It's a convenient February Jumpstart reminder that anything in your city can give you inspiration to create.

Our favorites are below, but there are more at the original article at NYT.com.
