We've always loved Murphy Beds for their space saving feature...there's something both old fashioned and new-fangled about a bed that can hide away. It doesn't slide into empty space within the home, it hangs out the side of your house. Duh.

The matress is actually similar to the memory foam matresses we are used to. It slides vertically up the back side of the unit, hidden from sight, on a track system. Pretty clever.

I would do something similar to this in a multi-purpose home office/guest room if I had the dosh and the need.
