Zoom Room Murphy Bed and Home Theater System

031209zoomroom01.jpgWe've always loved Murphy Beds for their space saving feature...there's something both old fashioned and new-fangled about a bed that can hide away. The Zoom-Room leans more toward the high tech end, thanks to a push button hideaway system, with the option of adding a 10" deep shelf accommodates a flat screen TV of any size and an infrared remote allows operation of the bed to be synched with universal control solutions...

031209zoomroom02.jpgWhen the bed is out, you can watch TV laying down opposite (great for some in-bed video game playing). But when you want guests over or need more room, press the infrared remote and the bed slides into the cabinet. Check out Zoom-Room's site for options and pricing.

but who has enough empty space on the other side for a bed to slide into the wall?

It doesn't slide into empty space within the home, it hangs out the side of your house. Duh.

The matress is actually similar to the memory foam matresses we are used to. It slides vertically up the back side of the unit, hidden from sight, on a track system. Pretty clever.

Yep, it's got a handy animation showing how it works here: http://www.zoom-room.com/howitworks.asp

I would do something similar to this in a multi-purpose home office/guest room if I had the dosh and the need.
