If you're interested in a Kindle for Christmas, there are two things to consider. The first is coverage: Kindle relies on the Sprint network to work, and so you have to be in their coverage area. You can check out this map to find out more specifically if you'll be covered.
The other problem is that, if you haven't already ordered you Kindle, you're not going to get the delivery by Christmas. No word on the exact date, they'll email you that after you place your order, but Amazon does say that you won't get it before Christmas.
