JVCs 31mm Thin Home Theater System Available November

101409_rg_JVCthin_01.jpgWe really enjoy when manufacturers try different ideas. JVC is trying an ultra-thin home theater system that mounts on your wall. This system even includes flat, wall-mounted speakers.

101409_rg_JVCthin_02.jpgJVC's SP-FT1 will fit in flawlessly with that wall-mounted HDTV that you have at home. The whole system is about 31mm thick, which is about 1.25 inches. It comes in two colors. The SP-FT1 is black and the SP-FT2 is white. This is most definitely a different solution to some of your home theater quandaries. Having a wall-mounted system saves space. If your HDTV is also wall-mounted, it makes a lot of sense. It's definitely quite different from the traditional rectangular boxes that house amps and speakers. The AX-FT amp has 80W of power over 4 channels and includes support of the usual formats.

The only trouble is that for now, this system is going to be released in Japan later this month. The white version will hit Japanese shelves in November. This means that we'll get them probably next year in the US. Prices are approximately $267 for the amp and $223 for the speakers. If space is an issue, you should most definitely consider a wall-mounted system like this. They are pretty rare and compared to other models, like Bang & Olufsen, they aren't that expensive. B&W BeoSound 5 retails for about $5,400. This means that the JVC system is about 11 times cheaper, though we wouldn't want to compare their sound outputs.

As we mentioned before, if you are trying to get the best bang for your buck, it's best to try out some vintage amps and speakers. Otherwise, this looks like an interesting system to park next to your HDTV.
