LG Announces RoboKing: An Updated Roomba Replacement

It's great to see that another company has seen the light and has decided to offer an updated version of their robotic vacuum cleaner. It's clearly a Roomba replacement. Competition is good as prices might get lowered.

121609_rg_LGRoboking_02.jpgLG's new Roboking vacuum cleaner has a few extra features. It comes with a couple of cameras so that it can analyze its environment better. What do these do exactly? They allow the RoboKing to compute the best path to cleaning your pad. This means that this new version of the RoboKing is 30% more efficient that the previous model. It's 30% faster.

That's not all. The noise level this little robot vacuum cleaner generates has also been lowered. It drops 13dB, coming from 63dB all the way down to 50dB. It also comes with a HEPA filter, long-life battery, cyclone dust kit, and plenty of suction power. The big difference comes in the sort of batteries that the RoboKing uses. It comes with Lithium Polymer batteries, which are usually used in cell phones and laptops. This makes this battery last between 3 to 5 times longer than others. There is also a RF remote, which functions within a radius of 33 feet. This remote has a joystick, allowing you to directly control the robot. The overall thickness of the robot also went down 2 inches, from 5.5" to 3.5".

aw, man. I JUST bought a roomba. I would have liked to give this a try, since I like a lot of LG stuff.
