Did anyone notice Netflix's breakdown in service yesterday? Apparently the site was down for most of the day due to technical difficulties yet to be described. Strangely enough, we were just remarking in our home last night that our next movie seemed to be taking longer than usual.

I've noticed the same thing over the last week or so, including my first "never arrived" movie. They've been moving really, really slowly.

The last one I got took forever to get here. Netflix gave me the lame excuse that they didn't have it anywhere near me & had to send it across country. By pony express, I think!

We haven't had any problems in getting movies at all- just got two today! But I did notice the star/rating system wasn't working on the site earlier today.

We have a distribution center in St Louis, so out here in the suburbs I can usually get my movies within 2 days (I send it on Monday, I get another movie Wednesday).
I just sent 3 back today, so we'll see if I get them by Thursday or not. Here's hoping, because I'm going through The Wire withdrawal already.

I usually have a 2 day turn around- send it in Monday, get a new one Wednesday. Sometimes it is longer if it is a foreign film. They are much faster than a normal letter through the mail which always seems to take forever here in San Luis Obispo.

nadiarl, You're in SLO? Cool! I grew up around there and it's always fun to run into someone in that area.
I sent a movie out on Friday and normally would have gotten another movie on Monday but I hadn't even heard they'd gotten it until today (when they also said they'd sent out my next one). Since the outage was Saturday, that makes sense.

Speed with Netflix is all relative to how fast you return your movies and what plan you are on. Basically on a 2 at a time unlimited plan, you are pretty much capped at 8 movies per month. Once you past that quota, delivery speeds suddenly take a hit. With a 3 at a time unlimited, you would be looking at 11-12 movies per months. Netflix throttles any account that rents too many movie regardless of the unlimited advertising. It's actually in their policies that you agreed to by signing up.
