News: Cell Phones Can Help You Lose Weight

A new service only available in Japan but definitely something that could be useful here in North America. CNN reports that the Japanese reputation of a low calorie fish and rice diet is slowly changing to that of bigger portions of meat and fried food. With camera phones pretty much everywhere in Japan, why not use camera phones to replace the often cumbersome and inaccurate documentation of food eaten throughout the day.

The service works by snapping a photo of your food and sending it to your dietician over the course of a single day or multiple weeks, dieticians can then analyze your diet and provide guidance and recommendations via email. An interesting concept, the only thing better would be for someone to stand over you and keep you honest while you try to enjoy the meal that you know you should not.

Lord, it's not that difficult to educate youself to calorie content and healthy eating. Snapping a picture with your camera phone and having someone do the work seems lazy and sorta lame. People pay for that?
