A greener Apple? Steve Job's recent green announcement has been put to the test by Greenpeace, who brought the iPhone under scrutiny for its use of hazardous chemicals. Their study found elevated levels of bromine, chlorine, and phthalates.
While the iPhone is only one device we mave have in our homes, it brings up the larger question about toxic chemicals and technology. What other devices do we own contain possibly harmful substances
We know that CFLs contain mercury, old CRT tvs and montiors contain significant quantities of lead, and even older LCD screens can contain mercury and arsenic. Greenpeace also offers a Guide to Greener Electronics that's helpful in navigating through the array of choices.

Seems as if the environmental groups are unfairly targeting Apple when they should be going after all of the electronics manufacturers. At least with Apple you get longer use out of said products.
