$22,800. Wow. That is what this Isamu Noguchi designed baby monitor recently went for at the Wright20 auction house. While Noguchi is better known for now iconic mid century furniture such as his coffee table for Herman Miller and Akari lamp, it turns out that he also dabbled in electronics design.
As mysterious as the Eames designed Quadraflex speakers, this baby monitor set was manufactured by Zenith and takes it's design cues after a nurse. Can you see it? It took us a while, but a nurse with longer hair and a traditional cap eventually emerges. Originally estimated to go for only $3000, it went for almost 8 times as much. That is one expensive way to hear your baby cry, of course we don't expect that the winning bidder will be using it for that.

I seem to remember seeing this piece on the Antiques Roadshow. They don't have it in their archive of appraisals, but wow!
