News: Sony Offering $100 for Your Old TVs

2007-12-19tv.jpgNeed to recycle your TV? Sure, your conscience and the need to declutter your home may be enough motivation, but what about $100 to spend at Sony?

Sony is offering $100 to you for recycling your old television (Sony or otherwise), you just need to take or send it to your closest Waste Management facility. And in return, they'll give you a $100 credit to spend at the Sony store.

To learn more, check out Sony's website. Does anyone know of a similar reward recycling program from other manufacturers?

It sounds like on the website it is only for sony products. Can you verify that is it for all brands?

Ditto to Signe's comment. (Although I'm crossing my fingers that I've missed something.)

Wait - I think I found it here. "Non-Sony televisions can also be recycled for a nominal fee*, and are also eligible for the $100 credit under this program". The asterisk brings you to - "$25 - $50". So, you'd only get $50 credit. Plus, you can only use one $100 coupon per t.v. purchased. This leaves me thinking that having the spare t.v. is worth more than having a $50 credit.

Oh, and the $100 credit can only be used towards the purchase of a new Sony Bravia HDTV.

$100 credit with the $40 government analog credit leaves over $1000 for a decent television. You can sell you TV on ebay cheaper.
