Now that we've officially confirmed the new iPod rumor to be true, with Apple's recently announced event set to go live next Wednesday, it seems like the good ol' iTablet rumor is next up on the list awaiting confirmation. This time around, the Financial Times take a stab at it, with reports that Apple is "racing to offer a portable, fully-featured, tablet-sized computer in time for the Christmas shopping season." Ho-ho-ho. We dig them tasty rumors, yeah.
i don't know - the tablet market is almost non-existent and such a device would hurt notebook sales. Apple doesn't make a small netbook because of the specs and the small keyboard - how would typing on a full-sized touchscreen be any better?
i can see this being an AppleTV replacement that would work in your entertainment center, and you can walk away with it for complete portability - but if people need a netbook or a tablet mac, they're better off with a MacBook or MacBook Air.

As someone looking forward to an TV (AppleTV) refresh, a tablet would be one expensive TV box. I doubt Apple will get rid of the TV or replace it with a completely different product as it has been selling quite well despite the lack of updates.
This event will probably hurt my wallet as my iPhone is now completely full and I'll be needing a new higher capacity iPod (likely a Classic) to keep all of my music on.

I don't understand why people would want something like this that would be the apple tv. I can see using a tablet, something a little bigger than a phone but not quite as awkward as a laptop (for the bus, personally I'd snap that up asap as long as I didn't have to buy a damn contract with a phone company). But the apple tv isn't something you currently actually watch tv on, and if you are going to hook it into the tv some how (and unless it comes with a wireless something that plugs into the tv actually sit by the tv) you aren't going to be watching things on it. Is this fufilling a need for bathroom tv's that I'm not aware of? I haven't seen a single good argument for the actual how it would replace the apple tv which makes me thing people just don't quite get or like the apple tv's as is. (I love mine and hope they don't gut any of the great functions or ease of use. Making it play more formats and all that fine but that doesn't require a giant remote...)

I am dying to get a hold of an Apple tablet. I use all Apple products in the house, and I draw. I have been looking at some of the tablets on the market, but want to be able to transfer files back and forth between my laptop and the tablet with more ease.
Just the other day I was working on some things in photoshop, and it would have been so much easier if I could have used a tablet to do it.

I could go for one of these, after all, my computer needs are so small, and iPod Touch or iPhone would almost do the job, ifn the screen weren't so small, and it had a real keyboard. Give me a tablet/jumbo iPod Touch with a dock that allows the use of a regular keyboard and mouse, and i'd have all the computer i need.

hmm, I used to have a tablet pc. I did all sorts of research and was so excited when I got it. However, I couldn't really use photoshop or illustrator as I thought I could. You can't access key commands while working on the tablet. Also, you need to see what you are drawing and tablets don't work quite the same way as a pen or pencil.
I have a friend who has the wacom pen on screen tablet and hates it for the same reason.
I think tablets are only good for dragging, clicking, and moving stuff.
