I've been getting a box at start-up that reads "Windows has stopped running rundll32" What does that mean?

At first I thought it was just my computer or internet connection.
But ever since this new site opened everything is taking forever to load. I get constant "searching for ads" and "transferring data" messages at the bottom of the screen.
Comment counter seems to work intermittently and when in the comments section I keep getting jumped back to the top of the page.
I cleaned up my computer, cycled the modem on and off, checked the signal and everything checks out fine.
Not sure what's going on but it is definitely more of a hassle to navigate around and I'd like to be able to fix it if it's on my end.

Oh, and a lot of "timing out" messages.

DITTO! The site keeps uploading and uploading and uploading. Even when it's completely "done" it won't stop uploading.

Could it have something to do with all of the giveaways?
Maybe a spike in visitors and registrations?

OK,
rundll32 is actually an executable within windows and/or programs (Rundll32.exe). But that doesn't mean when you get an error message with rundll32 is is a problem with rundll32.exe
What is happening is that windows and/or a program is looking to run a dll - hence "rundll". A dynamic link library (DLL) is a collection of small programs, any of which can be called when needed by a larger program that is running in the computer.
There are many, many, many dlls in your computer. To find out what the problem is to read the entire error, which version of windows and what programs are starting up with windows. NOTE: Windows 95, 98 & ME are full off rundll errors.
A recently installed program into Windows may be a cause of the issue. Uninstall it.
When I searched for rundll32 errors in the Microsoft tech base, it came up with 72 errors (see here). I searched for "Windows has stopped running rundll32" and there is no 'like' error in the windows tech knowledge base.
Please let me know:
Version of Windows
The entire error message (exact error message no matter how weird or irrelevant the message - including any 0s or X or so on)

ffffffrabbit, thanks for your response. I found that it had to do with the external mouse I had uninstalled and reinstalled. After clicking "yes" to a couple of things I got the rundll32 box to go away. It looks like things are running smoothly again (fingers crossed).
