iTunes Hacks

2007-02-28-itunes.pngChecking in at Lifehacker yesterday, we found some help for our mp3s. We love iTunes, but we hate organizing our music. Sure, Apple has given us lots of ways to help us with playlists and rating systems, but this can be tedious. What we really want is some shortcuts to help us get organized a little more quickly.

Lifehacker provides us with a cheat sheet to some of the best applescripts out there that help us keep our music under control. These scripts allow us to organize, sort, and research our music collection.

We especially like some of the creative automated playlist features, such as creating your very own block party (three songs in a row by one artist) or a showcase of your collection of one-hit wonders.

Great idea...too bad it only works for Macs. I looks at Dougs link for Windows and it is severly lacking in creativity. Anything neat, Block Party Style or others, that wonderful window users can use?

Here are two great tips for getting the most out of your iTunes.

Use custom fields for creating smart playlists.

You can do some great things with iTunes by using features many people never get around to.. Like you said, it can be a bit tedious at first, but once you set it up, it's awesome.

Basically, I've set up a bunch of smart playlists by using ratings and groupings, like a playlist for new music I've added, an acoustic playlist, and, for lack of a better term, a coffe-house type playlist. All of these update themselves.

This second tip is probably obvious, but since not everyone seems to know, I wrote it out and posted it.
