Drinkwell 360 Pet Fountain

070909drinkwell01.jpgWe don't know what we did before automating our pet feeding schedules. For anyone who likes to travel or camp over the weekend and has pets, we all know worrying about getting home to feed Fido or Trixie can be stressful. But ever since we got ourselves a pet feeder and water fountain, we're free to cavort out to long weekend trips without much worry (we still have friends drop in to check on our cats if we're gone for more than 1 day). Automated water fountains are especially nice since many models now purify the water and also make the water more inviting with a cascading action. This Drinkwell 360 Pet Fountain is especially great for more multi-pet households, since it offers access on all sides, so no more bogarting the fountain...

070909drinkwell02.jpgWe've got the Drinkwell Platinum model and it has proven to be a great pet appliance, working without a hitch for a few years now. The Drinkwell 360 Pet Fountain is very similar, with a filtering system that inhibits bacteria growth with replaceable filters and all around access that works for both cats and dogs (the foam/carbon based filters cartridges on this model look larger, so perhaps filter even better than the flat pack versions in our model). Would love to see this in a stainless steel model one day.

The funny thing is even with options like this, our cats are prone to cry to be given drinking access to a dripping tub, but felines often like to have options. Who owns whom, right?

This would result in "playful" puddles of water on the floor. I currently have the water dish safely in the tub.

We had so many "playful" puddles that we were ripping our hair out and we finally found the Catit (small drinking fountain not the big one). It bubbles up water that then runs down the outside of a plastic dome. It holds 2 liters so she can't knock it over. We still have to tape it to the floor because she pushes it around but the thing saved our sanity.

derek93: we had the Catit prior to the Drinkwell and it was well received for the most part. It required a little bit more regular cleaning, but I'd recommend it as an equal alternative from my past experience and the cats' approvals. We only replaced it after a clumsy electrician kicked and cracked it.
