Pivot Floor Vacuum Lets You Suck on the Down Low

So, we've got a lot of pets (last count, five cats!) in our 300 square foot apartment and hence have a lot of dust bunnies under couches, tea carts, bed side tables, etc. Most of the time, to get to them, we have to either push the piece of furniture back and suck 'em down with the vacuum or get on our hands and knees and use the vacuums detachable arm to kill those bunnies. It's not very fun, therefor the dust and fur collect for long periods of time under our furniture...

Well for every problem, someone's come up with a solution. Graeme Crawley designed a concept vacuum for Black and Decker back in 2007 and it's now a reality. The Pivot Floor isn't only cordless, its arm bends just so, so you can sneak your sucker under low hanging furniture. It also has a compact body so it can actually fit under couches and such.

We only have two issues with this sucker. Firstly, its cordless factor. From experience we've found that vacuums that don't plug in directly tend to have less sucking power. We could see this being an everyday vacuum in the house and then having a larger more powerful vacuum for weekly or monthly cleaning binges. Then again, we could never imagine living in a space large enough to accommodate two vacuums, but we can dream.

Secondly, we just don't think that arm is long enough to do any real damage under a bed or couch. What do you guys think?

I agree. In NYC, where moving the furniture can be not only a chore, but a tetris puzzle affair and a neighbor disturber, it seems great. The charge part is a terrible design though. I know I don't have enough outlets as it is, never mind finding a place to store it. I will stick to my elephant hose on the end on my scorpion hand vac.
