Recycling Year-Round, Part 1

2007-04-24gcycle.jpgEarth Day came and went but we at AT are always hoping to encourage an Earth Day mindset all the time. So we'd like to highlight two options (one today, one tomorrow) for you to digg for future reference:

Gcycle launches an app that allows you to type in your zip code, pick the items you want to recycle or dispose of properly, then spits out options in your area that include a list of everything they take at the site...

...which could help you think of other things that need to be recycled, and includes contact info. We never realized it (guess we just didn't think it through), but video tapes should be recycled, not just tossed.

The site has colorful stick figure animation--watch what happens to the stick man when he doesn't "gcycle" his stuff...nature has a way with him! It also offers this encouragement: "Dude, cmon, just follow through. It's not hard. You can do it." 'Nuff said.

Sites like this require really good underlying data as to what places recycle what items.

A bit into gcycle it says "powered by earth911." So if you don't want the cute interface, you can just go directly to http://www.earth911.org - which has been a well-regarded site for some time.
